The Boys & Girls Club of Rockford has been awarded a $25,000 grant by the Swedish American Foundation. The grant will be used to extend late night hours at the Blackhawk Boys & Girls Club.
“Over the last two years, our community has experienced an increase in shootings, robberies, car jacking’s and an overall increase in youth crime. In order to do our part, we need to give our members a safe place to go keeping them off the streets during the late night hours,” stated Clifford “Chip” Stoner, President/CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Rockford. “This generous grant from Swedish American will keep our Blackhawk Unit open until 10pm Monday through Saturday giving the neighborhood a safe place to be after hours,”
The Boys & Girls Club of Rockford has served the Rockford community since 1908 offering a unique and wide variety of educational, recreational, cultural and social activities for youth between the ages of 6 and 18.
