Boys & Girls Club of Rockford Receives William Charles Charitable Trust Grant

The Boys & Girls Club of Rockford has been awarded three grants totaling $60,000 by the William S. Howard Charitable Trust. The grants will be used to fund the sports programs at the Blackhawk, Carlson and Orton Keys Units of the Boys & Girls Club, an afterschool and evening program at the Fairgrounds Valley Unit and late night programming at the Blackhawk Club six nights a week.

During his lifetime, Bill Howard, former president of William Charles, found creative ways to make kids feel important. His generosity continues through the William Howard Charitable Trust that he established in 1992.  Since its inception, the Trust has contributed over $4.4 million to not-for-profit organizations that serve mentally and physically handicapped or economically disadvantaged children.

The Boys & Girls Club of Rockford has served the Rockford community for over 109 years offering a unique and wide variety of educational, recreational, cultural and social activities for youth between the ages of 6 and 18. Clubs nurture and enrich young lives by giving boys and girls opportunities for personal growth and achievement. There are presently five sites in the Rockford / Machesney Park area.
